As we approach the holiday season here in New York City, it is time to take stock of the year that was, and to look ahead to 2025.

And there has been a lot happening at Viam.

For example, we recently announced a partnership with UBS Arena and the New York Islanders to use AI to improve the fan experience. We also teamed up with Billion Oyster Project to restore oyster reefs to New York Harbor.

Every day, we’re on a mission to bring engineers together and help unlock the power of data, AI, and automation in the physical world—and we’re thrilled you’re here to join us.

This month we're highlighting capabilities that enable you to do more with the data from your devices, as well as continuing to expand the range of SDKs we support.

  • New fleet dashboards and new ways of visualizing machine data give you greater insight and control. Diagnose issues on individual machines, or zoom out to see the health of your entire fleet.
  • You can now train models with custom Python scripts, allowing you to control the model training process on Viam and leverage any Python-based framework.
  • The Viam TypeScript SDK now fully supports Node.js, as one of many SDK libraries provided by Viam.
  • The Viam data capture service now allows users to specify a data retention policy at the component-level.

Read more about these updates and their applications in our platform spotlight.
