Building intelligent machines used to take years. Now it can take months, or even days. With the right platform, ambitious teams can bring innovative ideas from concept to market faster than ever before.
Or consider Pull To Refresh, an AI-powered waste management startup using Viam to move quickly from early days into scalable production.
Whether you're bringing a new product to market, or improving processes and performance across a large fleet, building intelligent systems is faster on Viam.
⚙️ Platform highlights
Here's what's new this month.
Fragment variables Fragment variables let you create reusable configurations with placeholder values. Define a fragment once, then reuse it with different values for IP addresses, names, or other parameters—eliminating duplicate configurations. Build complex configurations by combining fragments that use their own variables.
Merge datasets in the UI Combine multiple datasets directly in the Viam app, and run an iterative model training workflow: train on your base dataset, collect edge cases from the field, merge them together, and retrain for better accuracy. It's especially powerful when paired with the auto-labeling feature to continuously improve your models over time.
TFLite model support for auto-labeling
We now support TFLite models, in addition to TensorFlow, for cloud inference and auto-labeling. Choose a model, set your confidence threshold, then review and accept or reject the generated annotations—skipping hours of manual labeling work.
AI and Robotics for Good—Leveraging Emerging Technologies for Impact
September 25
8:30-11 am
New York
Viam will host PollyLabs and MIT’s Martin Trust Center to discuss robotics, conservation, labor and safety, and energy infrastructure—and identify what's blocking scalable climate innovation in these critical areas.
IBEX: International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference 2025
October 7-9
Tampa
Visit booth 1-1010 at IBEX to check out our robotic long boarding and block sanding system, and see how our technology enables robots to navigate the complex challenges of fiberglass manufacturing.
Viam is excited to sponsor All Things Open. Be sure to catch the Viam session where you'll learn how to build a real-time macaron (or macaroon) detection robot.
